Purity, Ethics & Biodynamics
This session will be a dialogue between two philosophies rooted in the same soil. We are celebrating winemakers who have moved away from chemicals to listen to the land, proving that when you treat nature with respect, it repays you with extraordinary wine.
The Winemakers
Vina Kaloh (Stolni Vrh): for the Kaloh family, great wine is a testimony to a healthy environment. Their award-winning production is built on a foundation of environmentally friendly viticulture and a steady journey toward fully organic production. There are no shortcuts here: no herbicides, no pesticides, and absolutely no chemical intervention that would "poison the soil." By hand-picking every cluster and mowing their vineyards to maintain soil health, they achieve an immaculate purity. The result is a glass of wine that is clean, precise, and a true reflection of their sun-drenched slopes above Maribor.
Valentan (Malečnik): Valentan represents the self-preserving virtue of the wild. As biodynamic pioneers, they treat the vineyard as a complete, living ecosystem. They work in rhythm with the moon and focus on the resilience of the vine itself. These are "living" wines -often unfiltered and low-intervention -that capture a raw, soulful energy. From their vibrant Blaufränkisch to their macerated (orange) experiments, Valentan shows us the power of a vineyard left to find its own natural balance.
The Grapes
While the specific bottle lineup will be disclosed shortly, you can already look forward to an 8-wine journey featuring the typical, expressive grapes that define the Štajerska character:
Sauvignon & Welschriesling (Laški rizling)
Furmint (Šipon) & Riesling
Traminer & Muscat
Blaufränkisch (Modra Frankinja)
...and some unique biodynamic surprises from the cellar.
